FINE ART

A detailed perspective of the natural world

Inspired by the natural world, this Fine art collection is a combination of many materials and Mediums. The works are predominately 3 dimensional, mostly created using recycled materials ranging from cardboard, electrical wire, newspaper, wool, fabrics, plaster, clay and oil and acrylic paint. Oil paint is Petra’s main painting medium, but she is always experimenting with different mediums to achieve that perfect effect, striving for a strong, secure and tidy finish.

COLOURSCAPE

A touch of Impressionism and Abstract

The Colourscape collection represents the effects of reactions between mixed mediums. The power of the chemistry between these pigments carried by different mediums, attracting or repelling each other sometimes results in beautiful formations.
Before being sealed, a single painting could have had multiple layers of work on it, ranging from the original pour, to sanding back looking for patterns under dried paint, rubbing in ink or more paint to stain or add colour, and in general working on and enhancing areas where possible.
These Formations are then preserved by a coating of a premium quality finish (resin, satin or matte Varnish) on a ready-to-hang, multi-directional board.

Custom made

We asked Petra to create two wildlife pieces for us as mementos of our time in Far North Queensland. Petra listened patiently to my ideas. I requested life-size figures of two specific species of native butterfly from the region in their natural habitat.

I really didn’t have to say much as Petra intuitively understood my thoughts, making the whole commission very relaxed. I was able to trust her judgment completely. She updated me regularly on progress and arranged suitable framing as per my preference.

Both pieces, although intricate in appearance, have safely made it back to the UK – testimony enough to Petra’s skill in her craft. They now hang proudly in our living room. Visitors gravitate towards them and immediately comment on their uniqueness as 3D wildlife pieces and their changing dimensions as the natural light moves during the day. I’m often stopped in my tracks whenever they catch my eye and transported back the Australian Rainforest. We’re already thinking up our next commission for Petra!

Thank you Petra for our new piece of artwork for our new home. We had been searching for the perfect piece of art to add a pop of colour and character to our new family home. The amazing colours, technique and finished product are exactly what we have been looking for. Our new art is hanging proudly in our lounge room and many of our guests have commented on the uniqueness of it. We are so grateful for your ability to hear our thoughts, ideas and colour scheme and to be able to produce such a beautiful piece of art that suits is perfectly. Thanks again.
